According to Ancestry’s DNA testing and historical records site, my 74th great grandmother is the legendary Cleopatra VII aka “Queen of the Nile”, famously portrayed by Elizabeth Taylor in a Hollywood film (released June 12, 1963) that is still to this day one of the biggest budgets ever produced (around $350 mil in 2024 dollars). I have uncovered that Cleopatra was also a redhead like me. Yes, you read that correctly. Historians believe that the Queen was a natural redhead. It is rumored that aloe vera was one of Cleopatra’s secrets to staying beautiful and young, and it is said she used henna to keep her hair vibrant.

These speculations are partly based on an image found on a wall in Herculaneum, which shows a woman with red hair surrounded by Egyptian motifs. In her book, “Cleopatra the Great,” Joann Fletcher states that red hair became something of a fashion statement in Egypt, writing: “The red hair of the Germanic tribes conquered by Caesar was particularly prized for this purpose. It was a shade favoured by fashionable Alexandrian women, including some in the royal household. Presumably Cleopatra’s own auburn hair had set the trend…”

However, redheads are very rare. Only 1 to 2% of the world population is a redhead, and even less than that have royal DNA tied to the pharaohs of antiquity like Cleopatra. As I learned, the red hair tied to the royal “holy grail” bloodline is a very magical combination and holds deep, profound meaning related to immortality.

I have already learned that my royal family lines on both maternal and paternal side of my father’s family are descendants of the Merovingian King dynasty (Da Vinci Code film), Plantagenet, Stuart, Campbell clan of Scotland, and the Amal Goth Dynasty, who were also known for being the long haired red kings that claimed divine ‘magical’ powers through their red locks just like my great grandma Cleopatra.

Widely considered the most famous woman to ever live, Cleopatra wore eye makeup called “Kohl” that was magical in its properties and fought off the “Evil eye.”

Artist Leonardo Da Vinci tipped us off when he depicted Jesus Christ and Mary Magdalene, holders of the holy grail, with flowing long red hair in his painting of the last supper. According to my research, the higher prevalence of red hair in modern-day Scotland and Ireland has been linked to Viking ancestry. The Viking invasions and settlements in these regions could have introduced the ‘ginger gene,’ known scientifically as the MC1R gene variant, into the local populations. This gene variant, associated with red hair, fair skin, and freckles, is common in Northern and Western Europe, precisely the regions where Vikings traveled and settled. Red hair is caused by a mutation in the MC1R gene. People with two copies of this mutation (one from each parent) typically have red hair, fair skin, and freckles. While the MC1R gene variant is found throughout the world, its highest concentration is in Northern and Western Europe. This prevalence matches the historical trajectory of Viking settlements, suggesting a correlation.

Open History takes us further down the rabbit hole:

While an Egyptian Queen, Cleopatra was of a Macedonian line descended from one of Alexander the Great’s generals and, therefore, was not of Egyptian heritage.

In both films and art, she has been shown in numerous ways, from a black African heritage to a fair-haired Caucasian, with only the eyeliner seeming to remain consistent. Her actual appearance is not described in any contemporary sources, other than to comment on her attractiveness – ‘For her beauty, as we are told, was in itself not altogether incomparable’ (Plutarch) and so it is subject to debate.

But there is, however, evidence that Cleopatra was a red-head. It has been argued that “a fresco from Herculaneum holds the image of the Queen herself. While this is debatable, the woman portrayed wears the Royal Diadem and has the traditional hair-style associated with Cleopatra, only the hair is unmistakably ginger.

If Cleopatra was in fact Caucasian, as her lineage suggests, she joins the red-head ranks of Boudicca, Napoleon and Queen Elizabeth I, plus the holy grail line sired by Jesus Christ and Mary Magdalene.

Mary Magdalene (AD 3-63) was descended from the Hasmonaean House of the Maccabees, “a distinguished priestly family prominent in Jerusalem during the 2nd century BCE.

At the time of Antiochus IV (~142 BCE) the head of the household was the high priest Mattathias, who initiated the Jewish revolt. Just before he died he nominated his third son, Judas (nicknamed Maccabaeus or Maccabee, ‘the appointed [one]’ or possibly ‘the hammerer’) to be the movement’s military commander. Judas was in turn succeeded by his brothers Jonathan and Simon, and not only they but all their followers were thereafter known as the “Maccabees.” [Gardner, Bloodline of the Holy Grail, page 354]

“The uprising in which the Maccabees came to prominence — was prompted largely by the action of King Antiochus IV, Epiphanes of Syria, who foisted a system of Greek worship upon the Jewish community. The Maccabees later re-consecrated the Temple but, successful as the Jews were against Antiochus, internal social damage had been done because the campaign had necessitated fighting on the Sabbath. A core of ultra-strict Jewish devotees known as the Hasidim (Pious Ones) strongly objected to this, and when the triumphant House of Maccabaeus took control and set up their own King and High Priest in Jerusalem, the Hasidim not only voiced their opposition but marched en masse out of the city, in order to establish their own ‘pure’ community in the nearby Wilderness of Qumran. Following an earthquake, Qumran was rebuilt by the Essenes in the later Herodian era. The Essenes were one of the three main philosophical Jewish sects (the other two being the Pharisees and the Sadducees).” [Gardner, page 25]

“A fundamental belief of the Essenes was that the universe contained the two cardinal spirits of Light and Darkness. ‘Light’ represented truth and righteousness, whereas ‘Darkness’ depicted perversion and evil. The balance of one against the other in the cosmos was settled by celestial movement, and people were individually apportioned with degrees of each spirit as defined by their planetary circumstances of birth.” [Astrology!] The cosmic battle between Light and Darkness was thus perpetuated within humankind, and between one person and another: some contained proportionately more light, others proportionately more dark.”

During further research, I learned that Jesus Christ and Cleopatra’s son Caesarion (via her secret union with Julius Caesar) both attended the same school together.

All the Masonic Orders, Secret Societies, and most Mystery Schools trace their lineages back to Ancient Egypt.

According to Sakshi Zion site:

“Jesus and Caesarion both were educated in the historic library/school in Alexandria, which was later burned to the ground by the Roman Catholics. His ancient school was believed to be one of many Essene schools around the ancient world, others were in places such as India, Ethiopia, Persia and Greece. This could also help support the theory that Jesus was a Gnostic Essene, associated with the Essenes of Qumran, where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found.”


This theory also implies a possible bloodline connection to the world’s elite, the British Royal Family and Illuminati bloodlines. The idea is that there are 12 tribes of Israel and the Merovingian Dynasty being the 13th, hidden tribe.

Atlas Obscura explains the history of the Philosopher’s Stone:

In summer 2018, Megan Piorko was deep into research for her doctoral dissertation on 16th- and 17th-century alchemist and physician Arthur Dee. On a beautiful London day, she called up a little-studied alchemical notebook from the archives of the British Library, Sloane MS 1902. Immediately, Piorko was intrigued. The notebook, to which both Dee and his famous alchemist, polymath father, John Dee, had contributed, was “odd,” she says. The fabric and leather-bound manuscript has 31 leaves of both parchment and paper. Certain pages are written upside down, so Piorko had to flip the entire notebook to read it. It was on one of those inverted pages that she found a puzzling passage written in code. On an opposing page was a strange-looking table filled with letters. She didn’t know it at the time, but the coded text had been hiding the alchemists’ recipe to the elixir of life—what those in the profession called the “Philosopher’s Stone.”

Piorko and her team are currently working on their first academic journal article about the cipher and its secrets, which will include the experiment procedures and more about the man behind the cipher—Arthur Dee. His father, John, “put a lot of pressure on Arthur as his firstborn son. He named him after King Arthur.

“Mary Magdalene’s fundamental role in the royal genealogy is that she marries a member of the royal family, a fellow named Jesus. This role is described in the New Testament (e.g., the Wedding at Cana), and yet, for their own patriarchal reasons, is ‘vehemently denied by the Catholic Church and their spin-offs’, the later Protestant sects. The denials went to the extreme of describing the very idea of Jesus marrying as abhorrent.

The alchemical process is traditionally divided into several stages, each representing a phase of spiritual evolution. These stages are often described using symbolic colors: black (nigredo), white (albedo), yellow (citrinitas), and red (rubedo). Nigredo, the black stage, signifies the dissolution and purification of the old self. Albedo, the white stage, represents the washing away of these impurities, resulting in a state of spiritual clarity and enlightenment. Citrinitas, the yellow stage, marks the awakening of higher consciousness, where the alchemist begins to perceive the divine within. Finally, rubedo, the red stage, symbolizes the union of opposites and the achievement of spiritual wholeness.

Central to alchemy is the concept of the prima materia, the primordial substance from which all things arise. This substance is both the starting point and the goal of the alchemical work. It is the undifferentiated matter that contains the potential for all creation. The alchemist’s task is to identify, purify, and transform the prima materia, extracting its latent essence and bringing it to perfection. This process is mirrored in the alchemist’s own journey of self-discovery and inner transformation.

The alchemical laboratory, with its furnaces, retorts, and alembics, is not merely a place for chemical experiments. It is a sacred space, a microcosm of the universe where the alchemist engages in a mystical dialogue with nature. Each operation performed in the laboratory is a ritual act, imbued with spiritual significance. The substances used in alchemy are not inert materials but living entities, each possessing its own soul and spirit. The alchemist, therefore, must approach the work with reverence and humility, recognizing the divine presence in all things.

 November 28, 2019, and Amsterdam’s 10th Annual Society for the History of Alchemy and Chemistry Post-Graduate Workshop. Piorko, who was finishing her PhD at Georgia State University, had organized the event, in a hall donated by none other than The Da Vinci Code author Dan Brown. At a post-conference happy hour in a cozy pub, Piorko and a friend, digital humanities scholar Sarah Lang from the University of Graz, found themselves discussing a peculiar notebook. “I was like, ‘Oh, it actually has this really cool cipher in it,’ and so we were just looking at it on my phone,” says Piorko.
